Emily Harrison is a journalist born in Denton, Texas and currently based in Austin, Texas working as a Senior Opinion Columnist for The Daily Texan. She has a passion for all sorts of storytelling locally and globally.
Emily is a first-generation student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism with a minor in Global Management at the University of Texas at Austin. As the first in her family to attend a four-year university, her motivation is to tell stories through the lens of her family who never got the opportunity to.
When she’s not writing, she’s dancing. Since January 2024 she’s been learning to dance ballroom, Latin and swing dances through Texas Ballroom and Texas Latin Dance at the University of Texas. Emily competed in American and international tango and waltz and salsa and bachata in Ballroom Austin Open 2024. Additionally, she managed the social media of Halcyon Mueller where she promoted its Latin dance nights on social media before its closure August 2024.
